Step 1
Remove laces and insoles from skate shoes. During repairs, as few additional parts as possible should remain in them, since they can interfere with this important process.
Step 2
Wear protective gloves for repairs to avoid injuring your hands or injuring them on the blade and other parts of the skates. Flip the skates over and find the rivets there. Next, insert a flathead screwdriver under the surface and start slowly lifting them up. In this case, the work of a screwdriver will resemble a crowbar, which creates a lever for pulling out rivets.
Step 3
Grab the rivets with pliers and pull them out. Continue this process until you have removed each one. Check them for damage. Replace damaged rivets with new ones. They tend to get too wide and loose, which can injure your leg. If in your opinion they can still be used, then you should not change them.
Step 4
Insert the rivets into a special hand-held device for inserting them - "gun". Bring it to the place of the skates, where there were already rivets. Start squeezing the "pistol" by holding it with both hands on the trigger. This device pulls the sides of the rivet, which in turn expands at the other end. This all helps to insert them in the right place. Continue this process until the rivets begin to pop out.
Step 5
Continue the previous step until everything is secured. Now try wiggling the blade back and forth to make sure it is securely attached. Give your skates a try as soon as you complete the repair. Additionally, also sharpen the blade itself on the fastening machine with a file if it is dull.
Step 6
Seek professional help if you are unsure if you can fix your skates yourself.
