An ampoule is a small sealed glass container designed for storing medicines. At first glance, it may seem that it is impossible to open it carefully, but in fact it is not. If you follow simple rules and practice a little, you can easily open any ampoule.
Instructions
Step 1
Take the medicine ampoule you need. Be sure to check the expiration date, as expired drugs are extremely hazardous to health. Lightly click the ampoule with your finger several times. This is necessary in order for the medicine to move from the tip of the flask to the bottom.
Step 2
Get out a special nail file that usually comes in the kit and file the tip of the ampoule from all sides. If you bought the medicine without a box, try using a regular nail file. As a last resort, you can use an ordinary kitchen knife.
Step 3
Wrap the ampoule with a cloth, this is necessary so that you do not accidentally cut yourself in the next steps. Break off the tip of the ampoule by pressing firmly on it with your thumb.
Step 4
Dip the syringe needle into the ampoule so that its cut is completely immersed in the liquid and begin to gradually draw the medicine. As soon as you see that there is not enough of it left, tilt the ampoule horizontally, turn the needle upside down and press it as much as possible against the glass. These steps will allow you to draw the drug with a minimum of air bubbles. Remember to change the needle before giving the injection.
Step 5
Many manufacturers of imported drugs produce ampoules that do not need to be filed. They can be distinguished by the presence of a special groove. To open such an ampoule, it is enough to wrap the tip with a cloth and press harder on it. Make sure that the breaking point is at the top, not at the bottom.
Step 6
If the medicine is intended not for injections, but for internal use, then in no case transfuse or take the drug directly from the ampoule, as small fragments may remain in it. Draw the liquid through a syringe and carefully pour it into a clean container. If necessary (if this does not contradict the instructions), the medicine can be diluted or washed down with water.
