Plugs are collapsible and non-collapsible design. The former can be disassembled with a screwdriver, or even without tools at all. The second ones are not designed for disassembly, but if you wish, you can open them too, albeit with a loss of presentation.
Necessary
- - screwdriver;
- - small pliers;
- - nippers;
- - soldering iron;
- - shrink cambric;
- - lighter.
Instructions
Step 1
Before opening any plug, de-energize all devices that the cable connects to each other. Disconnect the cord that can be detachable on both sides from both plugs to be connected.
Step 2
To open the DB plug, remove the two screws, being careful not to lose the nuts. Divide the body into two halves. Then remove the two brackets with the other screws for screwing the connector to the counterpart on the instrument.
Step 3
To open the old-style antenna plug or DIN connector, use a screwdriver to press down on the latch until it bends towards the inside of the housing. Then slide the housing towards the cable. At the DIN plug, also remove the cylinder halves that are not secured.
Step 4
Open the new antenna plug by unscrewing and sliding the cap (for the round connector) or by unscrewing the two screws on the bottom and removing the cover (for the rectangular connector). The cable in such plugs is connected without soldering - using screws.
Step 5
Detachable plugs of RCA and Jack standards are disassembled by unscrewing and sliding the cap. Despite their similarity to some modern antenna connectors, they are soldered.
Step 6
Of the non-separable plugs, it is advisable to open only those that have a small number of large contacts. To do this, it is enough to remove the shell from the connector with pliers in order to get to the soldering points. After repair, reassemble the detachable plugs in the reverse order, after making sure that there are no short circuits. Cover the non-dismountable plug with a heat-shrinkable cambric.
Step 7
A cable that can be disconnected on both sides, ring with an ohmmeter, checking for not only short circuits, but also breaks, as well as for the correct connection of the contacts to each other. Then, by connecting the cord to the devices that it is supposed to connect with each other, make sure that they communicate correctly with each other in all modes.
