Hand-made or custom-made furniture gives the house a special comfort. The interior of your apartment or summer house immediately acquires originality. Well-made tables and chairs are not at all similar to those of neighbors or relatives. True, in order for the furniture to learn how to be successful, you must first make drawings. This is especially important when, for example, a folding chair or a rocking chair is being conceived.

Necessary

  • - graph paper:
  • - album sheet;
  • - pencil;
  • - ruler.

Instructions

Step 1

Sketch the future chair. It can be similar to those sold in the store, or it can be something original. Consider whether it will be a folding chair or the most basic one. As well as it is necessary to decide in advance whether you are going to make a soft seat and backrest or they will be made of slats.

Step 2

Determine the dimensions. You need to know the dimensions of the seat, the height and width of the backrest, the height and thickness of the legs, and the distance between them. To determine the approximate dimensions, you can take any chair and estimate how much its parameters correspond to what you want. Write down the measurements by adding or subtracting the desired number of centimeters.

Step 3

It is better to make a drawing in full size immediately on graph paper. If the seat is rectangular, place a dot at the intersection of the edge with one of the thick lines. Set the width of the seat to the right and the length down. From the end point of the width, set the length of the seat down and connect the resulting points to make a rectangle.

Step 4

The seat can also be in the form of an isosceles trapezoid. Then you need to know the lengths of its bases. Subtract the smaller one from the larger one and divide the resulting value by 2. Put the current at the intersection of the edge of the graph paper sheet with a thick line. Set aside the width of the larger base of the trapezoid from it. From the end points, draw the perpendiculars down, set the length of the seat on them and connect the end points. From the perpendiculars along the bottom line, set aside a value equal to half the base difference. Connect the resulting points to the ends of the top line. Round the corners if necessary.

Step 5

Build the back in the same way. First, draw a rectangle corresponding to its width and height. Then shape the back to the desired shape. It can be oval, trapezoidal, square - in short, whatever you want. It is better to build it on paper first so that you can correct it. If you intend to decorate the back with carvings, you do not need to apply it in detail, but simply mark the place.

Step 6

Draw the legs In a folding chair, one pair is connected to the back and is, as it were, a continuation of it. Imagine that a chair standing sideways to you is inscribed in a rectangle, the side of which is equal to the length of the seat, and the back, together with a pair of legs connected to it, is a diagonal. Calculate the length of this diagonal and draw the leg along with the rail to which the backrest is attached. Also determine their thickness. Draw this detail and measure it.

Step 7

Calculate the dimensions of the cross bars to which the backrest is attached. They are equal to the width of the backrest, plus the distance not fastening. Draw the backrest together with this pair of legs. You will get a rectangle, the long side of which is equal to the length of the leg along with the height of the back, and the width is the width of the back, plus the thickness of the slats, plus the distance for the mount.

Step 8

Draw the chair in profile. Draw a rectangle, the short side of which is equal to the width of the seat, and the diagonal is equal to the back with the leg. Mark on the drawing the attachment points for the seat and the second pair of legs. They are attached at a distance of about 1/3 of the backrest height. Draw the second pair of legs and calculate their size. The angle between this pair and the backrest is about 60 °.
