Ice skating is one of the most entertaining winter activities. Your favorite skates will delight you for a long time if you take proper care of them in a timely manner. Like any footwear, they require an individual approach and certain storage conditions.
Necessary
Skates, blade covers, solid oil
Instructions
Step 1
Find out everything about the materials your skates are made of. Skate boots can be made of genuine leather, artificial leather, plastic and other materials. The blades can combine various metal alloys.
Step 2
To clean the shoe, use a product that is suitable for the materials. Never dry skates directly on a radiator or over an open fire. Dry your shoes following the recommended normal shoe care guidelines. Choose a warm place for this, stuff the boots with paper that absorbs moisture, and change it as needed. Use special moisture-repellent creams and impregnations.
Step 3
Use special boot covers. They protect against external damage and cover the lacing for safe riding. In addition, they are used to insulate boots.
Step 4
Be very careful about the condition of the blades of your skates. They must be sharpened without burrs. In winter, when you skate a lot, use hard covers outside the rink area. They can be purchased at any sports store. By the way, covers are also made of fabric and wood. When worn on skates immediately after skating, fabric covers keep the blades dry while you carry them home from the rink.
Step 5
Be sure to wipe your skate blades dry! Don't put them in a bag or box right away, let them dry. Remove any traces of rust immediately with grease if you find them. Lubricate your skate blades about once a week to prevent this from occurring.
Step 6
If you do not use skates for a long time or decide to put them away for seasonal storage, be sure to lubricate the blades with grease (grease) or machine oil, and your boots with the appropriate cream. Wrap each skate in a cloth and store them neatly in a place with good air circulation.
