Gifts made with your own hands are of great value. A surprise box is a kind of hand-made present that is suitable for all occasions, you just need to change the design of the gift.

What is needed

So, in order to make a box with a surprise, you need: thick Whatman paper or cardboard in A3 or A2 format, scissors, a ruler, a pencil, an eraser, a hook or nail file, a wire for beading, a heat gun, a toothpick and a stationery knife.

What to do

First you need to cut out a thirty by thirty centimeters square from the existing cardboard or whatman paper. Now, using a ruler and a pencil, draw smaller squares on this square, each of which will be ten by ten centimeters in size. You should get three small squares on each side of the large square - a total of nine pieces. Then, using a clerical knife or scissors, you need to cut off four small rectangles located in the corners of the large one. As a result, a cruciform shape should turn out from the rest, but in no case throw out the cut out squares, they will still be useful to you in the future. Now you can erase the pencil lines drawn earlier with an eraser so that they do not spoil the look of the future box. After that, either with a thin embroidery hook or with a nail file, you need to draw the fold lines on the main figure so that the squares can be bent inward. That is, you should draw these lines on the sides of the central square of your cruciform figure, which is considered the base. After the sides are bent inward, take the four small rectangles that were cut off earlier and set aside and cut 1, 5-2 millimeters from each of them on one side. Then glue these squares to the sides of the future box. This is done to make it more dense and stable. After gluing, you can sand the edges a little with fine sandpaper so that the place of gluing is not visible.

You can move on to the design of the still boring box. It all depends only on your imagination. Take four squares of paper of your favorite color measuring 9 x 9 centimeters and the same size 8 x 8 centimeters. The design of the paper from which you cut these shapes can be very diverse. Glue the small squares onto the larger ones, and glue the whole thing to the outside of the box. The inner side of the box must be decorated in the same way. Now start decorating the center part (bottom) of the box. Cut out a rectangle of thick white paper about 9, 8 by 9, 8 centimeters in size, glue colored paper 9 by 9 centimeters on it, and another one on top - 8, 5 by 8, 5. Again, how these squares will be look - the scope of your imagination. There is a special scrap paper for such cases. You can decorate the middle to your liking, for example, with ribbons and flowers.

Now you need to build springs for future butterflies. Take a medium bead wire and wrap it around a toothpick, then remove the wire from the toothpick and stretch it a little. You need to make as many springs as there will be butterflies. Print out patterns for butterflies in advance and cut out. Now glue the butterflies to the springs with hot glue or double-sided tape. Using the same heat gun, glue the springs with butterflies to your squares with ribbons, then you can glue the "clearing" to the bottom of the box.

It remains only to make a lid for the box. To do this, cut out a square of cardboard measuring 15.3 by 15.3 centimeters. With a crochet hook, hold 2.5 centimeters from each side of the fold line. Make cuts in the resulting squares in the corners so that they can wrap inward and cut off a little from each of them so that nothing sticks out when gluing. Decorate the lid to your liking, glue and close the surprise box with it.
