First of all, you need to choose the variety of potatoes for planting. You can buy a good variety on an experienced scientific and agricultural base. It is better to select large tubers for seeds. Choose mid-season varieties that are resistant to diseases and pests. For 6 acres of land, 40 kg of seeds will be enough. Remember to renew the seeds every three years. Otherwise, potatoes will begin to acquire diseases and produce poor harvests.

One of the most important steps in growing a potato is its germination. It is necessary to carry out this procedure correctly. Usually seeds are germinated one month before planting. Remove the potatoes from the cellar and place them in a warm, dark place. When germinating, its shoots should reach a length of 1-2 cm, no more, since large shoots can break when planting.

Next, you need to cultivate the land for planting. It should be well plowed and warm enough. It is also advisable to feed the soil with rotted manure and dig it up with hay. This will significantly increase soil fertility and give the soil looseness. Loam soil with fertile black soil is very suitable for potatoes.
Step 4
It is necessary to plant potatoes, observing the distance between bushes and rows of about 30-35 cm. This is done so that they do not "shade" each other in the future. You do not need to bury the seeds deeply, a small layer of earth is enough so that no light falls on the tuber.

After planting, you need to take care of watering the vegetables. Typically, potatoes need to be watered once every 3 days in dry summers. In rainy summers, watering can be limited depending on the moisture in the ground.

In the middle of summer, gardeners begin to spud potatoes. In no case do not damage the root system of the plant during this procedure - huddle from the root, rising higher and sprinkling part of the trunk. Remember that the inflorescences must not be broken when hilling.

Potatoes are best harvested in early September. The tops must be collected, dried and burned.
