It is not always possible to repair the sunroof of the car as part of the next diagnostics and service. Problems can appear unexpectedly, when, for example, during heavy rain, wet streaks appear on the upholstery of the passenger compartment and it becomes obvious that the sunroof is leaking. How to solve this problem on your own?
Instructions
Step 1
First you need to open the entire cabin - from floor to ceiling - and dry it. You may have to get out all the firmware, soundproofing, and the passenger seat. True, the passenger seat cannot always be reached completely due to the air cushion and seat belt wires connected to it.
Step 2
During or after drying, disconnect the drainage channels that are installed by the factory on all standard hatches, and clean them using a compressor if this gives the desired result.
Step 3
If you cannot clean the channels with the help of a compressor, use another option: insert a TV cable into the channel, push it all the way, and then remove it back. There can be several drainage channels on the hatch, for example, two in the front (left and right) and two behind the hatch.
Step 4
In ninety percent of cases, it is the clogged drainage channels that are to blame for the leakage of the hatch. After cleaning them, you can leave everything as it is and not remember this problem for a year or two.
Step 5
If, in principle, you do not need the hatch, the problem can be solved finally and irrevocably by walled up it. To do this, take a 3 mm cord seal and glue it to the seal of the hatch itself. After that, the hatch must be closed, and with force, since due to the seal it will be difficult to close.
Step 6
When the sunroof is almost completely closed, take a screwdriver and carefully adjust the seal by pushing it between the sunroof and the car roof.
Step 7
Check it for leaks. Dousing with water does not give a clear enough picture; the car must be left in the rain several times. If there is no leakage, the interior and floor can be reassembled. Of course, it is already impossible to open such a hatch, but there will be no more problems with leaks.
