Step 1
Even in the absence of Internet access, you can receive information that your postal item has been delivered. The corresponding notification will be sent to your phone in the form of an SMS message. But this service is paid, and it must be ordered at the time of sending a registered letter or parcel post. In addition, it does not allow you to find out about the intermediate stages of delivery. Therefore, if you have access to the global network, it is better to track the shipment through it. After all, even if you do not have a computer, you can also access the Russian Post website from your mobile phone (if you have a browser and unlimited access).
Step 2
Every item sent via EMS is provided with a barcode sticker at the time of dispatch. It contains fourteen digits, if the shipment is carried out on the territory of the Russian Federation, and if the delivery is made to a foreign country, then from two randomly selected Latin letters, nine digits, and then the letters RU. At the time of sending an object from one post office to another, this code is scanned, and information about this is recorded on the server.
Step 3
EMS postmen use portable barcode scanners. When handing over the shipment to the addressee, they also scan the code located on it. Soon, this data also reaches the central server via GPRS.
Step 4
The sender can at any time find out the location of a registered letter or parcel post by entering the code into the form on the page, the link to which is given below. The content management system (CMS) located on the Russian Post web server automatically contacts the EMS server, sends it a code, receives information about the location of the shipment in response, and then transmits the result in the form of an automatically generated web page to the user's browser.
