Georgia belongs to a number of countries that do not have a Russian embassy on their territory. However, Georgian citizens can obtain a visa to travel to Russia.
First of all, a citizen of Georgia needs to decide what type of visa he needs to apply for a Russian visa. There are four options for a Russian visa: private, transit, study and business. In all cases, the passport must be valid for at least 180 days after the expiration of the visa. An invitation can be received both from a private person and from a legal entity (for example, an educational institution in case of obtaining a student visa) and must be issued in accordance with Russian law at the migration service of the Russian Federation.

Russian Federation Interests Section at the Swiss Embassy in Georgia
The interests of Russia in Georgia are represented not by the embassy, but by the section of Russian interests at the Swiss embassy, which is located in Tbilisi. It is there that the consular service operates, which considers documents for issuing visas. The process of obtaining a visa lasts from one to twenty working days, the cost of issuing it, depending on the type of visa and urgency, is from 60 to 310 US dollars. You can submit documents for consideration only by appointment on the website of the Consular Service of the Russian Interests Section. The Consular Service warns the citizens of Georgia against attempts to speed up or facilitate obtaining a visa by contacting third parties, since there are frequent cases of fraud in this area.
