You can get rid of annoying insects without harming human health using homemade traps. Structurally simple, made from scrap materials, such devices will help eliminate insects no less effectively than industrial analogs of traps using ultrasound and pesticides.
Necessary
- - glass jar;
- - plastic bottle;
- - polyethylene;
- - knife or scissors;
- - thick paper of different colors;
- - insect bait;
- - old CDs.
Instructions
Step 1
Correctly selected bait ensures high-quality work of any trap. To get rid of annoying gnats or fruit flies climbing over fruit, you need a small slice of overripe banana, peach, or other fruit with a rich sweet aroma. A slice of fruit is placed on the bottom of the can, the neck is covered with plastic wrap and small holes are made in it, the size of which will allow the midges to penetrate inside. The trap is left overnight or for several hours, after which a wider hole is made in the film, water is poured through it and splashed out along with the caught flies.
Step 2
A trap for insects larger than Drosophila works on the same principle of attracting a sweet smell. A jar or glass is filled about one third with syrup or jam, a sheet of thick paper is folded into a cone and placed in a container so that the sharp end of the cone does not touch the sweet bait. Insects enter the trap through the cone and get stuck in the sticky liquid.
Step 3
A blood-sucking insect trap can be made from a plastic bottle. To do this, cut the bottle into two parts, pour a teaspoon of yeast, 100 g of sugar on its bottom and pour a glass of warm water, after which the mixture is thoroughly mixed. The vessel is wrapped with a dark cloth or pasted over with dark-colored paper and the remaining cut-off part of the bottle is inserted into it with the neck down. During fermentation, yeast emits carbon dioxide that mimics human respiration, which attracts the attention of many insects. The trap is placed in the corner of the room or on the windowsill, its contents are poured every 10-14 days, rinsed and fresh bait is poured in.
Step 4
If there are unnecessary CDs in the house, then in a short time you can make a simple trap for flying insects from them. To do this, both sides of the disc are carefully coated with a thin layer of honey, the workpiece is removed for 10-15 minutes in the freezer, and then suspended by a string in window openings or in places where flies accumulate. As a large number of insects adhere, the disc is removed and replaced with another.
Step 5
For flightless insects, a trap made from a simple glass jar will be effective. The jar is wrapped with paper to make it easier for insects to get to the neck of the vessel. A strong-smelling bait is placed at the bottom: smoked meats, cheese, etc. The inner walls of the trap are greased with something greasy or oily: vegetable oil, petroleum jelly - this will prevent insects from getting out of the can.
Step 6
You can get rid of garden insects: aphids, whiteflies, apple variegated flies with the help of the simplest sticky traps: a sticky composition is applied to plywood, a board, or simply on sheets of bright yellow or red paper: honey, glue, a mixture of rosin with linseed oil and honey. Traps are hung on trees, changed as needed.
