We usually use rubber boots only a few times a year, for example, to go fishing or in the forest to pick mushrooms. But they often leak, since we walk in them not through the Canadian greenery, but through the forests and slums. So a dilemma arises - it’s a pity to buy money to buy boots, and you don’t want to go to a specialized workshop, because repairing boots there can cost, if not more expensive, then on a par with the cost of a new product. In this case, it is more rational to glue the boots yourself.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare everything you need for work: a file, sandpaper No. 60, a little gasoline or acetone in a plastic container, special glue for rubber, old scrap rubber or unnecessary rubber shoes, for example, galoshes. Wash your shoes from dust, dirt and dry them.
Step 2
Carefully cut the patch from the old rubber to the size of the puncture or cut on the boots to be repaired. Sand the sides to be glued, both on the boot and on the prepared patch, with a large file, and then with sandpaper or sandpaper.
Step 3
Treat the scraped areas of the bonding parts with acetone or gasoline to degrease them.
Step 4
Spread a thin layer of glue suitable for rubber products with a brush or a piece of foam rubber on both degreased surfaces. Leave the parts to partially dry the glue for 15-20 minutes. After the indicated time, apply a second layer of glue in the same way.
Step 5
Press the patch to the damaged area, supporting it from the inside with the fingers of one hand and from the outside with the fingers of the other. Try to do this with maximum force to ensure optimum tight contact between the parts to be bonded. Do not use glued shoes within 24 hours after the performed manipulations.
Step 6
To mask the cut patch, you can smooth the surface by thinning the edges with sandpaper. Paint over the patch with special paint if desired.
