Money, gold bars and other valuables have attracted intruders at all times. To prevent theft, experts have long developed special safes that are resistant to burglary. Yet no such defensive structure can match the reliability of the Fort Knox gold storage facility located in the United States.

Fort Knox: the highest degree of reliability

The Fort Knox storage facility got its name from the name of the nearby US military base. This fortified structure is located in Kentucky. Taking into account the degree of security, Fort Knox can be called the most reliable store of valuables not only in America, but throughout the world. It is used to store gold bars.

The world-famous vault was built in the mid-30s of the last century, when private individuals in the United States were prohibited from owning gold in coins and bars. In a short time, all such values were transferred to the Federal Reserve System. The issue of storing such an amount of gold was fundamentally resolved: a special depository was created, equipped with protective equipment according to the highest standards of that time.

How the Fort Knox vault works

The Fort Knox vault is essentially one huge safe located directly under the territory of the military fort. The walls of the structure are made of powerful granite, and therefore it is almost impossible to break through them with conventional burglary.

Anyone who decides to take this giant safe by storm will have to overcome four walls over a meter thick, which are under high voltage.

The storage is surrounded by a metal mesh along its entire perimeter. The territory is guarded by a special and well-armed police detachment. In addition to physical security, there is an effective video surveillance system. The exact security system of the structure is not known for certain, since it is one of the most guarded state secrets in the United States.

The inner space of the storage is divided into separate sections and smaller rooms, each of which actually also represents a highly secure safe with high burglar resistance characteristics. In the labyrinth of doors, only those who work in the store can confidently navigate.

There is no doubt that any intruder will be stopped by the massive door to the vault, which weighs over twenty tons. Such a safe "shutter" is capable of withstanding a very powerful explosion.

All these technical tricks were invented in order to reliably store about five thousand tons of gold in the form of ingots. As an additional measure of protection, a division of the American army acts, because the storage is located on the territory of a fortified military base, equipped with the latest technology. "Safe, like in Fort Knox": these words will not be an exaggeration.
