Crocheting the cord allows you to quickly and effectively decorate knitted or braided products. Elegant edging for cuffs and collars, elements of Irish lace ("bourdon cord"), shoulder straps and straps - these are just a small area of application of this original type of needlework. With a skein of rope, a ball of thread and a crochet hook, you can even create a one-piece piece - a beach bag or a hat.

Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the base for the strapping of the desired length and thickness. Depending on the density of the future product, you can use several woolen threads folded together, a nylon cord or a regular clothesline. Choose threads for framing exactly in tone so that the elements make up a solid border.

Try tying the cord with simple single crochets. Practice on a piece of unnecessary rope. First, attach a working thread to one end of the warp and pierce the lace in this place with the bar of the hook.
Step 3
Grab the string and drag the first loop through the rope. Fold the remaining thread "tail" in a long loop and tie it together with the base cord.
Step 4
Proceed in the following sequence: grab the rope with a crochet, form a new loop; insert the tool into both threads formed and form the first single crochet. Continue tying the cord to the end of the length you want.

In front of you is the first row of single crochets. Depending on your idea, it can become a ready-made strapping (bag handle, bourdon cord element, etc.) or the basis for further decoration of the product. For example, make the strap of a beach dress (top) or a knitted swimsuit out of it.

Turn over the rope, "dressed" in string loops, and begin the second row of harness. Perform sequential alternations: 2 chain stitches; 2 double crochets and 1 single crochet. You should have a nice ribbon on a tight (but flexible and soft) frame.

A coil of medium diameter rope can be the main material for making an original handicraft. You will be tying the cord and at the same time designing the cut details. Practice this craft with a beach bag or hat. First of all, draw a pattern for the product and make paper templates for each piece.

Tie a small initial air chain from the working thread, then attach the end of the cord between it and the working thread. Insert the bar of the hook into the first link of the chain, grab the thread and pull the new bow out of the thread. In this case, the frame rope must be inside the harness.
Step 9
Sew the next loop by inserting the crochet hook into the second link of the air chain. Make a single crochet.
Step 10
Continue tying the cord following the pattern of steps # 8 and 9. Along the frame there should be two parallel braided loop paths - top and bottom.

At the end of the row, attach an untied section of the cord on top. Crochet the first loop of the lower row (top track), then wrap the lace with the tool. Grab a working thread and complete the next column.

Tie the cord according to the ready-made pattern, however, in the current and subsequent rows, connect the sections of the base to each other. Shape the product at the same time. Apply turns of rope to the template and measure out to the desired size.

After a little workout, you can easily construct the sides and handle of the bag, or the crown and brim of the hat, from the tied lace. At the end of the work, fasten the working thread in a strong knot, cut and bend the end of the cord to the wrong side of the product. Secure it by hand with a blind stitch.
