The life of cut roses is quite short, and there are many reasons for this: clogging of the vessels of flowers with air bubbles, dehydration of the plant and a decrease in sugar in the tissues of the flower. After a few days, the flowers begin to fade, losing their beauty. In order to keep flowers fresh for a long time, so that they delight you with their aroma, you must follow a few simple rules that will help protect the queen of flowers - the rose.
Instructions
Step 1
When buying roses on your own in the market, pay special attention to the degree of opening of the buds. If in this case you want to keep the flowers for a long time, so that they delight your eyes with their presence and beauty, then the rosebuds should not be opened, but well developed. After you have brought the roses home, examine them carefully, but do not rush to put them directly into the water. Soak a clean tea towel or any piece of cloth in cool enough water and set in a cool, dark place. Many flower sellers advise putting roses in the refrigerator at a temperature of 5 degrees, where they should get used to their new "life" within three hours.
Step 2
Prepare a vase for the bouquet. It must be properly washed and filled with already settled water. Add an activated charcoal tablet, an aspirin tablet and a small amount of sugar. Aspirin is fairly well tolerated by flowers, and charcoal will help disinfect the water. Sugar is an excellent plant nutrient.
Step 3
Before you put roses in a vase of water, you need to properly prepare the flowers. To do this, take roses and substitute their stems under a stream of cool water. Make an oblique cut with a sharp razor (in no case with scissors) in water, this is necessary so that the tubules do not become clogged with air plugs, but drink water. Flatten the stems at the very bottom with a hammer.
Step 4
Without taking the flowers out of the water, trim the thorns and leaves at the bottom of the flowers so they don't come into contact with the water. This way, the water in the vase will not rot. You can add a special preservative to the water, which can be purchased at almost any flower shop. Now you can safely put a bouquet of roses in a vase.
Step 5
At night, you can put flowers in a bath of cool water, before that, refresh the cuts with a razor blade. Such a bath will help to reanimate the flowers as much as possible, after which in the morning they will look as if they have just been cut.
Step 6
Check the bouquet regularly, add fresh, settled water if necessary (but not from the tap, as there are air bubbles in it). Change the water in the vase every day, as tainted water will quickly wither the roses. Do not place the composition near heating appliances or in direct sunlight. And spraying a bouquet of roses will help keep its freshness and aroma longer.
